The Long Paddock refers to the use of this route now traversed by the Cobb Highway, for droving cattle from Queensland and New South Wales down to the markets in Victoria during the 19th century. At various points along the Cobb Highway there are plaques telling the story of those early pioneering days and the people who helped to build what would become Australia.
