Macrossan Park is a spacious free camping area perfect for vans, buses, and other vehicles, offering ample room for everyone to have their own space. Amenities include multiple clean toilets and cold showers, though water is non-potable. Mobile reception is available in certain areas, especially towards the highway and next to the toilet block. While the tracks leading to the river are more suited for high clearance vehicles, the higher ground and the banks of the Burdekin River offer fantastic spots for 4x4 camping enthusiasts. Despite its proximity to the highway, the park maintains minimal traffic noise, a tranquil place to camp and unwind. Shade is limited due to the open surroundings. Water is trucked in by the council, and the quality is not guaranteed, but good drinking water is readily available in nearby Charters Towers at the Woolworths Service station.
