About this campsite

Lowanna Reserve is a serene spot loved by both locals and visitors. It features a breathtaking swimming hole, a favorite cooling-off spot closer to the road. Albeit informal, travelers are heartily welcomed to stay overnight at one of three sites, and scenic parking options are available near the community hall or the historic railway station further north. The reserve also houses the local rural fire service. A local general store/cafe adds to the convenience. A stay here promises a taste of local hospitality and relaxation.

The reserve is not a formal camping area but locals seemed unanimous in welcoming travellers to stay overnight at one of three sites, so if the reserve doesn't suit, head for the community hall parking (rugged and public) or even further north to the historic railway station. The reserve, also accommodates the local rural fire service and as the lower section is used for access to the waterhole, this area should be kept clear. Anyone deciding that they are too tired to continue their journey should head for the top right corner. There's just the one general store / cafe.

How to Get There

Some roads in the hinterland behind Dorrigo are narrow and twisty, sign posted as not suitable for long vehicles or caravans.
