The Neil Turner Weir Rest Area, situated in Mitchell, offers a serene camping spot along the Maranoa River's bank. The area includes three different camping sites, all equipped with clean, modern facilitiesincluding flushing toilets. A convenient concrete boat ramp is available, located only 150 metres from the first camp. The meandering Maranoa River, originating from the rugged Carnarvon Ranges, provides stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere, making the rest area a perfect getaway.

Oolina Park Rest Area is a charming, forested retreat conveniently accessible from the highway via a short gravel road journey. While it is not officially designated for overnight stays, the park an ideal spot for a brief respite. Note that the site and surrounding roads can be less accommodating under wet conditions and some areas are overgrown.
