About this campsite

Police Bend is a tranquil bush campsite alongside a river and only a short distance from the highway. Although it lacks facilities and fishing opportunities due to the high, steep river bank, it offers the convenience of ease of access even for large rigs, especially in dry weather. This makes Police Bend an idyllic option for those seeking a serene camping experience amidst nature, without the hassle of negotiating tough terrains.

Strictly dry weather access,, a large rig could be parked here without too much fuss. The river bank is high and steep here so leave your fishing gear in the cupboard.

How to Get There

Turn right at the hall and follow the dirt track around to the scrub behind the toilet block. Please do not camp on the grassy areas around the oval.

The Bridge carries a legacy of the late Phil Schaffert, who dedicated over 20 years to serve the Carpentaria Shire Council.
