The NT-WA Border Checkpoint Rest Area serves as a crucial checkpoint for travellers heading westbound. Here, all fresh produce such as fruits, vegetables, plants, and honey are confiscated if found on board. This checkpoint plays a critical role in protecting the Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA) by preventing the introduction of harmful pests. To avoid wastage, travellers have the option to use the checkpoint's facilities to cook any prohibited items prior to entry. Specifically, honey can enter WA if affirmed heat-treated.
