Lake Gilles Conservation Park offers free bush camping with no facilities across a sparse, semi-arid mallee landscape approximately 430 kilometres from Adelaide. The saline lake is encircled by low sandy rises, gypsum dunes and isolated stony hills, providing a peaceful setting for birdwatching. The Eyre Highway passes through the park with 2WD vehicle access to the lake, while the northern area adjacent to Lake Gilles requires 4WD. Self-sufficient camping is permitted for caravans and tents. Managed by the South Australian Government, the park is open daily with free entry.
