About this campsite
On the original (gravel) Eyre Highway, prior to 1976, Koonalda station functioned as a roadhouse and garage for travellers. There is a large graveyard of wrecked vehicles which didn't make it all the way across. The station closed in 1988 and became part of the Nullarbor National Park. Access road is dry-weather-only and can be extremely rough as it is not maintained.
