The area offers several free camping options, particularly near Gembrook in the eastern Dandenong Ranges, where visitors can access bushland settings suitable for self-sufficient camping. While formal campgrounds within Dandenong Ranges National Park itself are limited, dispersed sites in surrounding regional parks provide access to the area's mountain ash forests and walking trails. Campers should be prepared with their own supplies and equipment, as facilities at dispersed sites are typically minimal or non-existent.
