Camooweal Caves National Park
Camooweal Caves National Park
About this campsite
The Camooweal Caves National Park houses unique sinkholes and caverns. The intricately carved caves, formed from soluble dolomite soaking in water for over 500 million years, are interconnected by vertical shafts that drop as deep as 75 meters. Spread across 13,800 hectares, the park is a semi-arid tableau, boasting open eucalypt woodland, spinifex, turpentine wattle shrubland, and extensive Mitchell grass plains. The park serves as a thriving hub for diverse bird species, including both woodland and water birds. They can be spotted at varying times throughout the year, providing an exciting sight for bird enthusiasts. To maintain the park's natural beauty and protect its ecosystem, visitors are kindly requested to take all rubbish with them upon leaving. Freshly drinking water isn't provided, so bringing an adequate supply is essential. Also, using a fuel stove is recommended since camping is not allowed in the park. Discover the timeless beauty and fascinating geological wonders of the Camooweal Caves National Park.
