Common questions

Why is the electric side so much weaker than gas?

Because 240V heating is limited by what a park supply can give — 0.9kW against 4kW on gas. On a mild evening the element holds the van steady and saves your bottles. On a genuinely cold morning it will not keep up, and gas is what warms the van quickly.

Where should it be installed?

Somewhere with airflow around it and access for service, and think twice about under the bed. The unit gives off heat while it warms water, which is welcome in July and less so in January. Under a seat or in a front locker is the usual answer.

Is 10 litres of hot water enough?

For a shower each and the washing up, yes, if you are quick about it. 10 litres goes fast under a hot tap, so the workable pattern is heat it, shower, let it recover, then the next person in. Van showers reward a tap you turn off while you soap up.
