The Nortent Mjodhall 16 is a purpose-built Norwegian expedition tent engineered for large groups operating in the most demanding conditions on the planet. Its flysheet is constructed from ARCX-N700 β a premium ripstop nylon coated with silicone on both sides for exceptional tear resistance and proven weather protection across four full seasons β while the structure is supported by eight 15.2 mm aluminium poles mounted on the outside of the flysheet. This external pole architecture means the outer tent pitches and stands completely independently of the inner tent, so your team can establish a dry, windproof shelter before any inner sleeping compartment is even fitted β a critical advantage in the driving rain and gales that Australian high-country, remote outback, and alpine conditions can throw at you. At 239 cm peak height and a cavernous 700 Γ 432 cm floor, this is a genuine cabin in the wilderness: every occupant stands tall, and there is room to live, not just sleep. Named after the mead-halls of Viking kings β the safest and most commanding shelter in the village β the Mjodhall 16 carries that heritage into the field.
Designed specifically for basecamp operations, search-and-rescue deployments, large 4WD and overland group expeditions, and multi-week remote camping trips, the Mjodhall 16 excels wherever a large, durable, and genuinely weather-resistant shelter is non-negotiable. Its four independent entrances β each fitted with mosquito netting β let sub-groups come and go simultaneously without disturbing the entire camp, while full-perimeter storm flaps, weighted with sand, snow, or stones, lock the tent to the ground in severe conditions. The anchoring system of 38 aluminium Y-peg stakes and 18 guylines delivers multi-directional storm security, yet the tent stands firmly freestanding without a single guyline deployed. Designed to be split across multiple packs, the Mjodhall 16 travels as light as modular expedition design allows β an essential consideration for remote Australian outback journeys, alpine traverses, or overland 4WD convoys heading deep into the bush.
This Mjodhall 16 comes complete with its PU 5000 mm groundsheet included in the pack (1.5 kg) β sealing out ground moisture and crawling insects, with unzippable panels that let you run a tent stove to keep the interior at a comfortable 20β30 Β°C through cold alpine nights. A six-point ventilation system β two large vents high in the canopy and four lower vents β keeps condensation under control whether you are cooking, drying gear, or riding out a storm. For private sleeping quarters, add up to two optional four-person inner tents (sold separately β see Compatible Accessories below) to create separate left-and-right bedrooms, or leave them out for a wide-open communal hall. Critical high-stress panels are reinforced with Dyneema β among the strongest fabrics available β so the tent shrugs off the abuse of repeated expedition use. Note: as with all silicone-coated tents, seams should be sealed with a silicone sealant before first use in heavy rain.
