About this caravan park

Nestled in Towarri National Park, Washpools Campground invites nature lovers for an enriching stay. Camp by the peaceful Middle Brook, soak in the natural beauty, and explore local wildlife, including nocturnal species like the powerful owl, greater glider, and wandering wombats. Favorable for caravans as well, this campsite could also serve as a delightful day trip destination from nearby locations such as Burning Mountain or the caravan park in Murrurundi.

Staying overnight in Towarri means you might spot birds and animals that are generally out after the sun sets. The powerful owl will be hunting medium-sized tree-dwelling creatures after dark. The greater glider is also nocturnal, travelling up to 50m through the air between branches (sometimes to escape those owls). Wombats tend to take to wandering when the sun has disappeared from the sky. So strap on a headlamp and see what else is near your camp. If you are towing a caravan, you might want to consider staying at Burning Mountain or the caravan park in Murrurundi and making a very pleasant day trip to this delightful spot.

How to Get There

Can be accessed either via Cressbrook Road from the New England Highway, or Middlebrook Road via Scone. There is a ford on Cressbrook Road, just before the waypoint at the junction with Middlebrook Road. After rain this may be too deep to cross. If traveling via Scone and Millbrook Road, there is a bridge with a 1-tonne limit. The entrance to the park is 4km past the waypoint on your RHS. There is a steep approach to a ford at the entrance to the campground which may be a problem for caravans. 2km of gravel road to the campground entrance. There is a picnic ground 300m forther on.
