The area also features a historical long drop toilet, with a uniquely heavy steel door. Note that there will be some closures and detours due to bridge constructions. This charming and tranquil nature retreat allows a stay up to 5 days, extendable with a council permit.

Towong Reserve Camping Area is a scenic escape nestled along the Upper Murray River bank. This pristine camping locale offers lush, shady spaces beneath towering trees for traditional camping or sunny, open spots for those who prefer a brighter setup. Although facilities on site are limited, the nearby town of Corryong is easily accessible and equipped with all necessary amenities. The camping area is notably home to an intriguing long drop toilet, sporting a heavy metal door reminiscent of an old jail. Stay durations of up to five days are permitted but can be extended with a council-issued permit. However, please note that the Towong Bridge, providing easy access to the camping area, will undergo construction work from September 2016 until February 2017, causing closure of some camping reserves. Limited access will be available during the festive period of December until January 2017. While the bridge is non-operational, detours via the Bringenbrong Bridge on the Alpine Way or Tintaldra are recommended.
