The site offers access to walking, tramping, mountain biking and hunting opportunities across the reserve's extensive backcountry. Freedom camping here is restricted to certified self-contained vehicles only, with stays limited to four nights per calendar month. Basic facilities are available during operating periods. The reserve is accessed via the challenging Skippers Road, which crosses the historic Skippers suspension bridge.
