About this campsite

Petrie Park Picnic Area is a popular outdoor spot known for its public boat ramp on the Mary River in the Tiaro area. It offers amenities for overnight camping, fishing and picnicking. However, it may not always be suitable for medium to large size caravans due to its undulating landscape and occasionally gets closed for fishing competitions. The area underwent rejuvenation after flood damage, now featuring protective bollards, thereby reducing camping space. However, its beautiful surroundings make it an attractive choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

Looking for a rejuvenating escape immersed in nature? Petrie Park is a must-visit destination, nestled along the tranquil Mary River. It's unique in the Tiaro area, boasting the only public boat ramp on the river - a popular fishing spot where you might just reel in the catch of a lifetime! The Park also provides an overnight rest or camping area, perfect for those who yearn for a rustic camping experience. The site is not ideally suited for larger caravans due to its undulating landscape, making it a more cosy fit for tent campers and small caravan owners. With limited camping spots available, it ensures a serene and intimate experience, tucked away amidst the great outdoors. Keep in mind, this charming spot can get busy during fishing competitions, and sometimes camping may be closed off due to these events - always handy to check before your visit. The council's ongoing efforts to restore and upgrade the park after flood damage have further added to its appeal, offering a perfectly maintained natural retreat. Discover the beauty of Petrie Park, where the fun of fishing meets the peace of picnic grounds for an unforgettable getaway!
