About this location

North Rockhampton Boat Ramp is a popular destination for water enthusiasts, conveniently located by the Fitzroy River and close to main traffic bridges. The area offers compelling Barra fishing and productive crabbing, particularly downstream, past the two meat works. Users must be cautious of potential dangers such as submerged rocks during high tides and crocodiles inhabiting these regions. The nearby Nerimbera and Thompson Points, both off Emu Park Road, and the Ramp at Ski Gardens are also favored spots for activities.

There is Barra fishing to be enjoyed between the two bridges, but be careful of rocks as they are submerged at high tide. Danger area upstream from the train bridge, in front of the barrage. Crabbing is ok in this area, however it's much more productive down stream past the two meat works. There are two other ramps on the Fitzroy River tidal section. One is at Nerimbera, the other at Thompsons Point, both off Emu Park Road. On the fresh side the Ramp at the Ski Gardens is off Lion Creek Road, south side. Crocks live in all these areas.
