Facilities
Cimarrona Campground is located next to Cimarrona Creek with views of the meadow and Williams Reservior to the south. The campground has 21 sites. There are both sunny and shady sites to choose from as well as a few sites that can handle large-sized RVs. It’s only a short walk to fish in the creek. The campground is adjacent to the Cimarrona Trailhead.

PALISADES HORSE CAMP
Overview Palisades Horse Camp is located 30 miles north of Pagosa Springs, high in the San Juan National Forest. This beautiful area has excellent horseback riding and hiking trails and an abundance of wildlife. Recreation Hiking and horseback riding trails are the main attraction at Palisades. The Williams Creek Trail leads directly from the campground into the Weminuche Wilderness, crossing the Continental Divide. Facilities This equestrian campground offers single- and double-family campsites to campers with horses. Corrals with feeding bins are provided. The corrals are divided into two sections with room for two to three horses on each side, depending on horse temperaments. Hitching racks are set up throughout the campground and a water tank is on-site. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. A campground host is on-site, and is very knowledgeable about the area. Natural Features The campground is nestled in a stand of pine, spruce and fir trees, and sits at an elevation of 8,300 feet. The area provides panoramic views of the surrounding meadows and mountains. Williams Creek flows nearby. The surrounding forest provides a prime wildlife habitat. Charges & Cancellations Cancellations Individual Campsites: Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee. A visitor who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee including tax and applicable add-on for a campsite. Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee. No-Shows A no-show visitor is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date. No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-on for a campsite. Refunds Visitors may submit a refund request through their Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of the end date of their reservation. Refunds will not be issued after the 7 days has ended. Refunds for debit or credit card payments will be issued as a credit to the original bank or credit card used to pay. For check or cash purchases, Recreation.gov will mail a Treasury check for refunds of cash, check, or money order payments to the address associated with the reservation. Treasury check refunds may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive. WILLIAMS CREEK CAMPGROUND
Overview This popular campground, 23 miles north of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, offers both shaded and sunny campsites with some located creek-side. Visitors enjoy the area for its fishing, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) riding, and scenic opportunities. Recreation The campground is one mile from Williams Reservoir, a popular fishing and kayaking spot. There are several ATV and hiking trails approximately one to five miles beyond the campground. Facilities The campground offers many single family sites, some with water and sewer hookups and many with views of the surrounding mountains. There are two double sites and one triple site, suitable for larger family gatherings. There are a few level pull-through and back-in sites appropriate for larger RVs. Vault toilets and drinking water are available. Firewood may be purchased from the camp host. Natural Features The campground is situated among cedar, aspen and ponderosa pines. Some sites are located on the banks of Williams Creek, which runs along the eastern edge of the campground; some have spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. A popular hike nearby is Piedra Falls, located a short distance from the campground. ATV enthusiasts enjoy Poison Park Road which is several miles from the campground, or traveling to East Fork Road to enjoy this four-wheel drive-only road to Silver Falls. Just a few miles north of Williams Creek Campground, is the Cimarrona Trail which begins across the road from its campground namesake. The Williams Creek Trail begins at the end of the Williams Creek Road, at the Palisades Horse Camp. Both run through the Weminuche Wilderness to connect with the Continental Divide Trail. In addition, the town of Pagosa Springs offers many festivals on the weekends and the hottest, deepest hot springs in the country.
