About this campsite

Eight unpowered sites right behind the beach at Bingil Bay, just north of Mission Beach. Managed by the Djiru Traditional Owners.

Bingil Bay Campground sits right behind the sand at the northern end of Bingil Bay, a few kilometres north of Mission Beach. The Djiru Traditional Owners manage the campground on behalf of Cassowary Coast Regional Council, with a caretaker living on site. There are around eight unpowered sites suited to tents, campervans and smaller setups — no long rigs. Sites are $35 a night and there's no online booking; call or email the Djiru Traditional Owners ahead to secure a spot. Maximum stay is six weeks. Facilities are simple: flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a covered BBQ shelter and picnic tables, with good shade through the camping area. Dogs are welcome on a lead. This is crocodile country, so swimming isn't recommended, and marine stingers are in the water from November to May. The beach makes up for it — fishing, long walks and sunrises straight from your site.

How to Get There

13km from El Arish via Mission Beach Road and Bingil Bay Road. Turn onto The Esplanade at waypoint and continue for 300m.
