About
It is an ideal route for those travelling between outback NSW and the coast, particularly when towing a caravan. The highway passes through some picturesque landscapes in highly productive agricultural areas, encompassing the production of wheat, cattle, fat lambs, fresh fruit and wine. Along the way it passes within easy driving distance of the Goulburn River National Park and the Coolah Tops National Park, both of which provide excellent camping venues.
The Golden Highway is mostly 2 lane bitumen with some spots providing a third lane for overtaking on steep inclines. The road snakes its way lazily through valleys and over hills, providing an interesting and varied driving experience.
