Bjelke-Peterson Dam Rest Area
Bjelke-Peterson Dam Rest Area
About this campsite
Includes a very large shaded area fronting the lake. Modern BBQ's and multiple tables cross a gently sloping hillside. The huge parking area opposite the toilets is suitable for any size rig. Bollards separate vehicles from the large picnic ground area so your BBQ gear and esky needs to be portable. Lake Barambah is a stocked impoundment famous for its particularly large Golden Perch (Yellowbelly). The lake is also stocked with Australian Bass. On occasion Redclaw crayfish and eel-tailed catfish are also caught. Backing on to the formal picnic ground is a further large area of grassed lake frontage and shade trees that includes a public boat ramp. While no other formal facilities exist here, it makes for a pleasant day parked under a tree with a tinny or canoe pulled up to the bank in front of your vehicle.
