The name Tingoora is said to be of Aboriginal origin meaning "Home of the Koala" or "Place of Wattle Trees". The Tinny is an institution in the South Burnett, It boasts a drive-through bottleshop, colorful public bar, ice cold beer and honest meals. If the toilets here are closed for repairs, there are some at the day rest area on the main highway.
