About this rest area
Lake Belmore Recreation Area, located less than 4km from Croydon town, is an iconic destination in Gulf Savannah. Constructed in 1995, this earth wall dam serves as Croydon's primary water supply providing fresh water. It is home to thriving populations of Red Claw, Barramundi, Sooty Grunter and Black Bream, ensuring fantastic, seasonally unrestricted fishing experiences. Every year, the lake is restocked with Barramundi and Sooty Grunter fingerlings. In addition to this, the Croydon Fishing and Boating Club hosts an annual Barramundi and Bream fishing competition.
